A troubled teen thinks everyone is their enemy.
They cause harm to other people because
they are too upset from their own mental condition.
They think that their parents and society are
responsible for everything bad that happens in their
life. They don’t feel that their parents want the best for them and they feel that their parent
don’t have the right to tell them what to do
or invade their privacy. If the teen presents his or her
behavior as a mental problem, the law through the
juvenile justice system requests that the troubled teen be sent to a group home. These group homes
are sometimes also called residential treatment centers
for troubled teens.
Group homes are places where troubled teens live under the constant supervision of staff
members. Every troubled teen is provided an individual
doctor or nurse for his or her constant supervision. They
try to overcome the teen’s problems providing him or her
different services. The atmosphere of group homes
are family based so that the teen boys and girls can feel that
he or she is at his home. Among the participants of a group home not all the troubled
teens are court ordered. Some of
them have been abused and neglected by their parents and
may have been put there by social servers.
Group homes are not specially made buildings or camps. For a group
home there is no necessity to develop a building.
A group home can be made from any unused or abandoned
building. In some states where ranch style living is
a way of life, you can find ranch homes that have
been converted into a group home. These group homes
have many outdoor activities, including horseback
riding, swimming and have an open garden. Other states
offer group homes that are located in the wilderness
and teach your teen survival techniques and how to work together
as a team.
The group home provides a good education for the
troubled teen. These group homes are similar to traditional
school and employ well qualified and experienced
teachers. The residential environment of
these homes helps the teen withdraw from the harmful
influences of negative peer groups or other bad habits like
gang involvement, smoking and drug abuse.
The troubled teen gets therapeutic care which helps them survive the challenges of life. Indoor and outdoor entertainment
activities are conducted in group homes to encourage
participants to develop team spirit and leadership qualities. They are motivated
to work together as a team, and acquire a new personality.
There are many group homes, especially Christian group homes, which are safe, supervised,
and nurturing for troubled teens. They are dedicated
to helping teens modify self-destructive behavior
and realize their full potential as teenagers and
young adults. They provide a caring community
of counselors, therapists, christian advisors and peers. They also develop a positive social network that will serve
as a strong support system beyond the gates of their
homes.
As a parent of a troubled teen you should try to
admit him or her to the best group home where they are treated well and change their attitude towards themselves.
The group home also involves the parents for the treatment
of their teen. The parent may be helpful to identifying
the real problem of their teen and the reason for
that problem. With this information the doctor will be able to treat your teen better. Skilled therapists
can easily get to the problem and he can create his treatment
plan according to the troubled boy or girls particular problems.
